Today we used gemstones for our division in maths. We learnt that division is ‘shared between’ and it means that we need to share equally. We got partners and we got a whiteboard. When we rolled our dice we had to draw the amount of people (represented by circles). Sometimes if someone was lucky they rolled one which meant they got all 20 gems. We needed to share the gems equally between each person.

This term we have done some amazing things in 2D at ACPS.

Here are some of the highlights:

• We have all written narratives (made up stories) and published them in Book Creator (an app where you can make books). Today we had a book launch for each author to read their narrative for the first time!
• We have learnt about fractions using lots of food like real mnms, pizza, picnic food and cake.
• We have had Footy Day where we got to wear our footy (or soccer or rugby) colours, do footy games and sing the songs of our favourite teams.
• We made string phones to learn about communication in the past.
• We have done lots of CBL (challenge-based learning) about the past and present and we got to create our solutions to the challenge ‘celebrate history through storytelling’.
• We had a book fair where we could buy books and read.
• We learnt how to be safe online and be good digital citizens.

WALT: work in a team to make a marble run

IWBAT:

Make a marble run using blocks, marbles and any other materials in the room. Criteria… You marble run must:

• Be touched by a person only once
• Be 3 metres long
• Have at least 2 curved parts
• Have a ramp
• Be at least table height
• Have a moving part

In the incursion called Jungle Shimmy we learnt the story of Isis and she was a powerful goddess.

We learnt a wing dance by the story of Isis.

We learned a dress called ballady [from the country].

We learned a dance from Egypt.

Today we learnt how to use private information so people know how to be safe online.  Make sure that you keep your private information to yourself so that we will be safe. Here is an Answergarden that we made that shows what you should keep to yourself.

You can make a username up instead of using your own name, like Sonic199, Roboskeleton, Flowergirl502 or Dynamite16. We think these sound cool and keep our identity private. If it’s already taken, use another one. We can use an Avatar instead of a photo of ourselves, like on Mathletics.

If we are unsure, we can ask an adult or someone who is looking after you.

We are lucky to have lots of technology at our school and in our lives! We use the internet on our iPads very often and we need to know how to be safe and responsible online, so we can look after ourselves and others.

We watched a song to learn about using our bodies to be good digital citizens.

We learned that Digital Citizens…

• Feel with their heart
• Listen to their gut
• Balance time with their arms
• Stand up (to people doing the wrong thing) with their legs

Welcome back to term 3!

The year is going very quickly and we have so many things this term that we will be learning about and participating in!

The beginning of the term is quit hectic already, we have a performing arts incursion happening on Monday the 20th of July. During that week we will also be attending the first ever book fair at our school! It’s going to be very exciting. 

We will be rehearsing for the Beauty and the Beast Musical that is being held on Thursday 30th July. Miss Greco and Mrs Cotter have put in a lot of work to organise the musical- it’s going to be AMAZING!

Later on in the term we will be celebrating Literacy and Numeracy Week!

In class we will be doing SO MUCH learning!

Reading we will be looking closely at comprehension and many other CAFE strategies. We will continue to expand our vocabulary and learn so many more new words to use in our speaking and writing! See if you can spot any new words we use this term!

In writing we will be looking at narratives and some letter writing. Students are going to also undertake Writer’s notebook writing, so remember to bring in your seeds!

Throughout maths we will be learning about telling time, multiplication, shapes and other amazing topics! Maths this term is going to be EPIC!

Lastly our CBL topic for this term is DIVERSITY! We will be looking at storytelling in diverse ways! This will be an interesting topic!

I can’t wait to get back to school and teach and learn these amazing things!
